Points saillants
At the high elevations small pockets of very shallow surface slabs that lie on hard crusts could be triggered on steep slopes particularly near cliff and rocky areas. With rain expected today at even the upper elevations, it will become possible to release these slabs as wet slabs in the afternoon. At the mid elevations the hazard is Low this morning and will increase to Moderate today as rain penetrates the snowpack and warming occurs, creating the chance for wet slab and wet loose avalanches to be triggered on steep rocky slopes. These wet avalanches will be possible on steep snow covered slopes at the low elevations all day today where freezing did not occur overnight and rain is expected.
