Points saillants

Recent storm snow combined with strong winds will create dangerous avalanche conditions in steep terrain today through Monday. Avalanches will be easily triggered and may run long distances. Avoid travelling in or below steep slopes during this time period.

Heavy storm snow across the area will create touchy conditions today. Steep terrain should be avoided until this new snow has time to settle

  • Wind Slabs

    • Sous la limite forestière

Strong winds out of the southwest and fresh snow will create some thick and sensitive slabs on leeward terrain (north and east sides of the mountian. Avoid travelling in steep terrain below ridgelines and gullies.

  • Deep Persistent Slabs

    • Alpin
    • Limite forestière
    • Sous la limite forestière
    Probabilité
    Possible
    Taille
    2–3

Deep weak layers will be stressed by the addition of new weight loading the snowpack. The possibility of these weak layers "waking up" to this new stress will be possible. Triggering a small slide may result in a "step-down" avalanche on these deeper weak layers.
