The new snow is bonding only slowly with the old snowpack at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. The fresh snow as well as the small wind slabs that are forming above all adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls can be released easily, or, in isolated cases naturally in all aspects above approximately 2000 m. The fresh wind slabs can be released, even by a single winter sport participant and reach medium size. The number and size of avalanche prone locations will increase as the day progresses. Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released in very isolated cases by winter sport participants.
The new snow is lying on a crust in all aspects above approximately 2400 m. The old snowpack is faceted. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack in particular on shady slopes. This applies in particular above approximately 2300 m. In all regions only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.
Monday: As the day progresses as a consequence of new snow and wind there will be an additional increase in the danger of dry avalanches. In localities where more snow falls danger level 3 (considerable) may be reached.
