New snow
- Above 2,400 m
Wind and new snow to low altitudes.
In particular at elevated altitudes snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Faceted weak layers exist in the snowpack on wind-loaded slopes.
Wind and new snow: The avalanche danger will increase but remain within the current danger level.
Wind and new snow to low altitudes.
As a consequence of new snow and a moderate to strong wind from northwesterly directions, further wind slabs will form on New Year's Eve especially in the regions exposed to precipitation. These can be released by a single winter sport participant in isolated cases. The older wind slabs will be covered with new snow in some cases and therefore difficult to recognise.
