Forecast Snow Stability: Localised accumulations of shallow windslab will develop mainly on Northerly to Easterly aspects above 850 metres. Greatest instabilities will be where deep accumulations form on the older existing, steep snowpack. Wind sheltered locations, gully tops and steep coire headwalls will be particularly affected. Cornices will also start to develop above these aspects. Elsewhere the old snowpack will remain well bonded and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: The freezing level will lower to around to around 800 metres rising slightly by late afternoon. Snow showers falling mainly above 700 metres, rain below this elevation. Winds will be fresh to strong and mostly West-South-Westerly. Observed Weather Influences: Overnight, rain fell at all levels with strong Southerly winds. In the early hours of the morning the freezing level fell to around 950 metres, precipitation fell as light snow mainly above 900 metres accompanied by fresh to strong South-Westerly winds. ObservedSnowStability: New snow amounts are not deep or extensive, mostly a very light dusting above 950 metres, lying mainly mostly on bare ground and thawing. These new accumulations are in wind sheltered locations mainly at the tops of sheltered gullies and on steep coire rims with a North to Easterly aspect above 950 metres. The older snowpack is generally firm and well bonded. The avalanche hazard is Low.
