Snowpack Structure

The surface of the snowpack will soften during the day. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack, especially on shady slopes above approximately 1700 m. The wind slabs are to recognise and can be released in isolated cases especially at their margins.

Avalanche Activity

Moist small and medium sized avalanches are the main danger. The wind slabs can be released in some cases.

As a consequence of warming during the day, the likelihood of moist avalanches being released will increase gradually in particular on extremely steep sunny slopes. The wind slabs are to be evaluated with care and prudence in particular in extremely steep terrain. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack. These avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. Snow sport participants can release avalanches in isolated cases, with a large load in most cases.
