Avalanche Activity

Dry slab avalanches are possible in isolated cases as before.

10 to 15 cm of snow fell on Saturday above approximately 2000 m. The westerly wind has transported the new snow. The fresh snow and the mostly small wind slabs formed during the snowfall can be released by a single winter sport participant in particular on steep north, northeast and east facing slopes above approximately 2000 m. Even a small avalanche can sweep people along and give rise to falls. In addition very occasional gliding avalanches and snow slides are possible. This applies in particular on very steep grassy slopes.

Snowpack Structure

The fresh snow of the last few days and the wind slabs are lying on top of a quite favourable old snowpack.
