Avalanche Activity

Considerable avalanche danger will prevail. The wind slabs represent the main danger.

The avalanche prone locations are to be found adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack. Avalanches can penetrate down to the ground. They can in many places be released, even by a single winter sport participant. Wooded areas could also be affected by avalanches and present situations of instability. Moist avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming.

Snowpack Structure

The weather conditions gave rise to increasing moistening of the snowpack. The wind slabs of the last few days are lying on top of a weakly bonded old snowpack. Precarious weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on shady slopes.

Tendency

The weather will be cloudy. Over a wide area light snowfall.
