Forecast Snow Stability: Through the afternoon, localised areas of unstable windslab will build in steep wind sheltered locations, on East to South-East aspects, largely above 750 metres. Terrain most affected will be tops of gullies, coire rims and ridge flanks. Elsewhere, by the end of the day, there will be a shallow covering of new snow above 500 metres, overlying bare ground. High windward terrain will be scoured. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight rain will ease by daybreak, followed by significant snowfall through the afternoon. South-Westerly gales overnight will gradually moderate through the day, veering West-North-West by mid afternoon. The freezing level will rise well above the summits overnight, lowering to 550 metres by the end of the period. Observed Weather Influences: Scattered showers with rain and drizzle at all levels. Fresh Westerly winds. Freezing level just above the higher summits. ObservedSnowStability: Very limited snow cover. Lingering patches and slivers of old snow are well consolidated and continue to slowly thaw. The avalanche hazard is Low.
