Avalanche Activity

Minor glide snow avalanches and sluffing can occur.

Avalanche danger is low. Main problem: wet snow. In isolated cases on very steep slopes where the ground is smooth, small glide-snow avalanches can unleash spontaneously. Isolated glide snow avalanches that are mostly small are possible on steep smooth grass-covered slopes.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack is thoroughly moist down to deep layers. Monday night will see mostly clear skies, in free terrain a melt-freeze crust will form that is capable of bearing loads which softens again during the day. As a consequence it forfeits its firmness. Often the snowpack is wet where it borders the ground, i.e. it can start sliding over soft ground. Snow depths vary. Ridges and crests are blown bare; south-facing slopes are becoming increasingly bare. All in all, there is still little snow.

Tendency

Hardly any changes by Wednesday.
