Avalanche Activity

The new snow represents the main danger.

The new snow will be deposited on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack in particular on north to northeast to northwest facing aspects. The fresh snow and the resulting small wind slabs represent the main danger. In the regions exposed to precipitation and in gullies and bowls small to medium-sized loose snow avalanches are possible as a consequence of the new snow. Dry avalanches can be released, in particular by large loads. Single winter sport participants can release avalanches in isolated cases.

Snowpack Structure

The new snow is lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack. New snow is lying mostly on a hard crust.
