Avalanche Summary

You could trigger an avalanche in a drift of fresh snow that sits on an old snow surface. Look for cracking to identify unstable areas and avoid fresh, pillowy, lens-shaped drifts below ridgelines and in cross-loaded terrain features.

Safer travel can be found in wind-sheltered and lower-elevation terrain, where the new snow remains unconsolidated.
