Points saillants

The general avalanche hazard is LOW in the early morning hours and will increase to CONSIDERABLE as temperatures warm and snow surfaces soften. The potential for slab avalanches to be triggered and wet slides to occur will increase as the day warms. Yesterday a hard slab 30 inches in depth was reported to have released naturally at 10:15 in the morning on an east slope of Brooks Mountain at an elevation of 9,800 feet. With 5AM temperatures near 30 degrees at the upper elevations similar events are possible today.
