We are dealing with wet avalanche issues on most sunny and low-elevation slopes and a dangerous slab over weak layer setup on most shady slopes, especially near and above treeline. If you are traveling in avalanche terrain facing northwest through north to east, you can trigger a large and deadly avalanche from long distances away, and you won't get any obvious signs of instability before it happens. The easiest way to reduce your chances of being caught in one of these avalanches is to avoid travel on or under steep slopes facing these aspects of concern.

If you are traveling on steep slopes facing the southern half of the compass, you should start and end your day early to reduce your chances of being caught in a wet avalanche. Watch for signs of wet snow, such as rollerballs and small natural avalanches below cliffs, rocks, and trees. If you start to notice these signs, stay away from steep slopes on these sunny aspects as well.
