Points saillants
The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE in steep avalanche terrain where west and southwest winds have formed pockets of new soft slab up to one foot in depth and dense old slabs up to two feet in depth persist. These dense old slabs lie upon a weak basal layer of faceted October snow. These old slabs are gaining stability and will be harder to trigger. Riders and skiers could cross them several times before they release. Avalanches are unlikley in areas not underlain by a weak layer of faceted snow at the base of the snowpack.
