Points saillants
Very strong southwest winds have formed new slabs to two feet in depth on leeward aspects at all elevations. Deep slab instability persists especially at the mid and upper elevations on northerly aspects. Yesterday a skier triggered a two foot deep slab on the Bearpaw Avalanche Path on the south side of Teton Pass. Similar events could be triggered today on steep wind loaded aspects and have the potential to step down to buried weak layers near the base of the snowpack. Winds this hard typically load lower in the starting zones and cliff bands.
