Avalanche Summary

Avalanche conditions are generally safe. You might trigger a small avalanche on some north or northeast-facing slopes at upper elevations. This is where hard, wind-drifted snow rest above older, weaker snow. To identify the most concerning areas of slopes, look for lens-shaped pillows of snow that commonly form adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies or couloirs. If you observe cracking in the snow surface or audible collapses, consider moving to a different aspect or slopes less than about 35 degrees.
