Avalanche Activity

More frequent small to medium-sized loose snow avalanches are to be expected.

Small to medium-sized loose snow avalanches are to be expected as a consequence of the new snow. In the event of prolonged bright spells this applies on extremely steep slopes and. The new snow-covered wind slabs are now only very rarely prone to triggering, caution is to be exercised in particular adjacent to ridgelines. Only isolated gliding avalanches are possible. This applies on steep grassy slopes below approximately 2600 m. Areas with glide cracks are to be avoided.

Snowpack Structure

Up to 20 cm of snow has fallen. 10 to 20 cm of snow will fall. The old snowpack is well consolidated and its surface consists of loosely bonded snow lying on a resilient melt-freeze crust.

Tendency

Up to 15 cm of snow will fall on Wednesday. The weather conditions will give rise to increasing settling of the snowpack.
