Avalanche Activity

Watch out for local snow slabs and pillows, wet drifts on sunlit slopes.

From the recent light snowfall, locally in some, mainly shaded, places there may be snow slabs or pillows lying on an older hard to icy base. Exceptionally, small drifts ending in terrain traps can be expected. Little snow and protruding rocks. Due to warm inversion weather and sunshine, spontaneous small wet runs may occur on the southern slopes.

Snowpack Structure

Snow cover is melted in most of the area. Predominantly hard supporting crust. Water ice in valleys and on access paths. On average, there is between 15 and 25 cm of snow in the mountains. Mostly in the Orava Beskydy Mountains, where locally up to 50 cm of snow can be found. No significant change is expected in the next few days.

Tendency

Persistent
