Points saillants

The snow cover at the upper elevations is up to 18 inches deep. Current snow surfaces are comprised of dry loose snow and areas of sun crust. Normal caution is advised as even a small slab avalanche can cause serious injury due to the shallow snow depths. Snow cover tapers to depths of less than six inches and areas of bare ground below an elevation of 8,000 feet.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )A low pressure trough is digging southward along the west coast. Winds will increase as this trough moves inland and the pressure gradient increases. Skies will be mostly clear in the morning with increasing clouds in the afternoon and evening. Mild temperatures are expected aloft as the flow backs towards the south. The shallow early season snowpack at the upper elevations is mostly stable and avalanches are unlikely. The general avalanche hazard is LOW. Normal caution is advised as even a small slab avalanche can cause serious injury due to the shallow snow cover.
