Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche in wind-drifted snow below ridgelines or at higher elevations on the leeward side of a terrain feature. If you notice cracking in the snow around you or the snow feels hard and hollow, consider avoiding steep, open slopes and moving to lower-angle terrain in wind-sheltered areas.
