Avalanche Activity

Fresh wind slabs on south, southeast and southwest facing slopes.

Adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls and on steep southeast, south and southwest facing slopes slab avalanches are possible, even medium-sized ones. Avalanches can be released, mostly by large loads.

Snowpack Structure

The meteorological conditions fostered a slight strengthening of the snowpack also at high altitude. The snowpack will be subject to considerable local variations. The strong wind has transported a lot of snow. The fresh wind slabs are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. In particular on southeast, south and southwest facing slopes sometimes deep wind slabs formed. In some places wind slabs are lying on a moist old snowpack. The northeasterly wind will transport the fresh and old snow. Some fresh snow and the wind slabs that are forming adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls represent the main danger.
