Avalanche Activity

The danger of moist and wet avalanches will increase during the day. In addition the wind slabs should be taken into account.

As a consequence of the precipitation moist loose snow avalanches are to be expected, in particular medium-sized ones. Fresh and somewhat older wind slabs can be released easily by a single winter sport participant above the tree line. On very steep grassy slopes more gliding avalanches are possible. The prevalence of the avalanche prone locations will increase with altitude. On steep grassy slopes more medium-sized gliding avalanches are possible.

Snowpack Structure

Over a wide area 2 to 50 cm of snow will fall until Monday above approximately 1800 m. The rain will give rise as the day progresses to a loss of strength within the snowpack. The wind will be strong to storm force. In the vicinity of peaks wind slabs will form.

Tendency

As a consequence of warming during the day avalanches are to be expected as the day progresses, in particular medium-sized ones.
