Where the snow surface is hard and icy, the snowpack is stable, but there is an increased risk of slipping in steep terrain.

En skiløper kan løse ut våte løssnøskred der snøoverflaten er våt, løs og myk. Svært bratte solvendte heng med framstikkende steiner og klipper er mest utsatt. Der snøoverflaten er hard og isete er snødekket stabilt, men fare for å skli og skade seg.

Glideskred og skavelbrudd må tas med i vurderingen på våren. Hold avstand til glidesprekker og skavler.

Snowpack Structure

Det er snøfritt i lavlandet, med snøgrense rundt 600–700 moh. Gjentatte perioder med mildvær og sol, kombinert med nattefrost, har smelteomdannet snødekket. Den siste tiden har nattefrost flere steder uteblitt, noe som har ført til økt smelting.
