Forecast Snow Stability: Wet surface layers will start to refreeze in the cooler temperatures becoming progressively firmer through the day. Stability of remaining cornices will be suspect. Greatest amounts of snow will be found on North-West through North to East aspects above 900 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: After briefly lifting above all the summits the freezing level will drop overnight to around 800 metres, then rise slightly to 1000 metres by the end of the afternoon. Some light rain followed by a dusting of snow is expected. Winds, gale force throughout from the South-West in the morning, West-South-West in the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: The freezing level lifted throughout the day to around the highest summits by mid afternoon. Cloudy above 600 metres with light rain. Winds were mostly from the South-South-West and strong throughout. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is thawing in the mild and wet conditions with significant depletion of cover at lower elevations. The majority of the snowpack is soft but generally well bonded, but stability remains marginal in deep accumulations on steep terrain on North-West through North to East aspects above 800 metres. Any cornices are prone to collapse. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
