Forecast Snow Stability: Unstable windslab will continue to be deposited in wind-sheltered areas, mainly on North-West through North and East to South-East aspects above 850 metres. There will be a brief period of increased instability in the early morning when the freezing level rises to the summits. Fragile cornices will continue to build above many of these aspects. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight winds will moderate to strong South-Westerly backing South-Easterly and then veering Westerly. During the day moderate winds will back from Westerly to become Southerly. The freezing level will briefly rise from around 600 metres to summit levels pre-dawn before dropping to 800 metres during the early morning. A period of snowfall overnight will be followed by snow showers above around 700 metres through the day. Observed Weather Influences: Winds were strong generally Westerly. Snowfall overnight with snow showers above around 500 metres through the day. ObservedSnowStability: Fresh unstable windslab has been deposited in wind-sheltered areas; greatest accumulations are on North through East to South-East aspects above 850 metres. Fragile cornices are building above these aspects. The old snowpack continues to consolidate and is generally stable. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
