Forecast Snow Stability: Through the day further deposits of unstable windslab will be deposited in wind sheltered locations. Most affected will be North-West through North to East facing gullies and slopes above 900 metres where avalanches are likely. Unstable cornices will be prone to collapse. Windward aspects very hard, icy and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: After a few showers overnight, some heavy precipitation during the day will fall as snow above 700 metres. Winds will be gale force and from a generally Southerly direction. The freezing level will be around 800 metres, briefly rising to 1000 metres during the morning. Observed Weather Influences: Frequent and heavy showers fell as snow above around 600 metres through the day. The freezing level was around 800 metres. Gale force winds were from the South-West. ObservedSnowStability: Yesterday\'s wet snowpack has consolidated in the colder conditions. However, through the day areas of unstable windslab were deposited in wind-sheltered locations such as gullies on mainly North to East aspects above 900 metres. Fresh cornices were fragile. Windward aspect were very hard, icy and stable. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
