The snowpack will be quite stable.
Thus far the weather has been clear. As a consequence of sharply falling temperatures a crust formed on the surface during the night. These conditions caused a gradual strengthening of the snowpack. Faceted weak layers exist deeper in the old snowpack in particular on shady slopes.
As a consequence of highly fluctuating temperatures and solar radiation the snowpack consolidated during the last few days. Isolated avalanche prone weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack especially on very steep shady slopes. Only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year. Also at intermediate and high altitudes from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying.
