The new snow and wind slabs represent the main danger.

Down to 1300 m snow will fall in the Dolomites and in the Prealps. In some regions 30 to 40 cm of snow will fall above approximately 2000 m. The sometimes strong wind will transport the new snow. In particular adjacent to ridgelines as well as above the tree line sometimes avalanche prone wind slabs will form. The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence in particular on steep northwest, north and northeast facing slopes above approximately 1800 m. The new snow can be released easily or naturally in all aspects above approximately 2000 m. The avalanches can be released, even by small loads in isolated cases. As the snowfall level drops gliding avalanches are possible below approximately 1600 m.

The new snow will be deposited on a crust in particular on northwest to north to northeast facing aspects above approximately 2000 m. The wind slabs of the last few days will be covered with new snow in some cases and therefore difficult to recognise. As a consequence of the wind, fresh snow drift accumulations will form. In some cases the various wind slabs have bonded poorly with each other and the old snowpack. They can be released easily especially at their margins.
