Avalanche problems

  • Wind slab

    • Above treeline

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack will be quite stable. The surface of the snowpack will soften during the day. Below approximately 1700 m only a little snow is lying.

Tendency

Decrease in danger of moist avalanches as the temperature drops.

Avalanche Activity

The snowpack will be quite stable.

As a consequence of warming during the day, the likelihood of moist avalanches being released will increase in particular on very steep sunny slopes. The more recent wind slabs have bonded well with the old snowpack in all aspects. Individual gliding avalanches can also occur, in particular on very steep grassy slopes in particular below approximately 2000 m. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.
