Avalanche Activity

Snowpack largely stable. Attention: danger of falls on encrusted surfaces.

Avalanche danger is low. Wet snow is a problem at intermediate altitudes. On steep slopes which have not yet discharged, small wet loose-snow avalanches and glide-snow avalanches can trigger. Glide-cracks are indicators of imminent danger.

Snowpack Structure

During the partially clear night on Saturday the snowpack will be able to consolidate. It is thoroughly wet down to ground level but low in tensions. At high altitudes a melt-freeze crust will form, some fresh snow will be deposited atop of that. Below 1500m, also on shady slopes, there is hardly any snow on the ground.

Tendency

Fresh snow and drifts will ratchet up avalanche danger at the start of the new week.
