On wind-loaded slopes a high danger of dry avalanches will prevail.

As a consequence of new snow and wind the wind slabs will increase in size additionally as the day progresses. The fresh snow and in particular the sometimes deep wind slabs are prone to triggering. Even single snow sport participants can release avalanches very easily, including large ones. Backcountry touring and other off-piste activities call for caution and restraint. Numerous medium-sized to large natural dry avalanches are to be expected. In isolated cases, the dry avalanches can reach as far as the valley bottom from high-altitude starting zones. Avalanches can reach valley bottoms and in isolated cases endanger exposed transportation routes.

Up to 40 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen since Sunday above approximately 2000 m. As a consequence of the moderate to strong westerly wind, the snow drift accumulations have increased in size. These are poorly bonded with the old snowpack in all aspects. The strong wind has transported the fresh and old snow significantly. Faceted weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack at intermediate and high altitudes.
