The sometimes strong wind has transported the new snow. In some places sometimes avalanche prone wind slabs formed. The fresh and older wind slabs represent the main danger. Avalanches can be released in near-surface layers, even by a single winter sport participant. This applies in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls, and on very steep slopes. The avalanche prone locations are clearly recognisable to the trained eye. On very steep slopes dry loose snow avalanches are possible, but they will be mostly small. In addition further individual mostly small dry slab avalanches are possible. These weather conditions will cause a slight rise in the danger of moist avalanches as the day progresses on very steep slopes. In the event of solar radiation this applies at low and intermediate altitudes.
10 to 15 cm of snow, but less in some localities, has fallen since Tuesday above approximately 2300 m. In some localities 10 cm of snow fell on Saturday above approximately 2500 m. Outgoing longwave radiation during the night will be reduced in some places. The sometimes strong wind has transported some snow. At high altitudes and in high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. The new snow is lying on a crust on sunny slopes. This snow is lying on soft layers in all aspects above approximately 2700 m. Individual weak layers exist in the snowpack in shady places that are protected from the wind, especially above approximately 2400 m.
The avalanche danger will persist.
