Highlights

The conditions are mostly favourable.

Avalanche Activity

The conditions are mostly favourable.

Currently there are favourable conditions mostly. In these regions the avalanche prone locations are rare. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation there will be only a very slight increase in the avalanche danger. These weather conditions will give rise to slight moistening of the snowpack at intermediate and high altitudes. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface. This applies in particular in the early morning.

Snowpack Structure

As a consequence of highly fluctuating temperatures the snowpack consolidated. This applies in particular on steep sunny slopes at high altitude, and in all aspects at intermediate altitudes. The snowpack is fairly homogeneous and its surface has a melt-freeze crust. This applies in particular in the early morning. Below approximately 2200 m only a little snow is lying on south facing slopes.

Tendency

Further warming. Gradual increase in danger of moist and wet avalanches in the course of the day.
