15 to 25 cm of snow has fallen above approximately 2000 m. The avalanche prone locations are covered with new snow and are difficult to recognise. In particular on steep shady slopes avalanches can be released in the old snow and reach large size in isolated cases. This applies in particular at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, when entering gullies and bowls for example at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions. Avalanches can in isolated cases be released, even by a single winter sport participant. Along the border with France the situation is a little more dangerous. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation moist and wet avalanches are possible as the day progresses, in particular medium-sized ones. Backcountry touring calls for careful route selection.

Above approximately 700 m snow has fallen. In particular low and intermediate altitudes, steep sunny slopes: The new snow is lying on top of a quite favourable old snowpack. High altitudes and the high Alpine regions: In some cases new snow is lying on the soft surface of an old snowpack. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise as the day progresses to increasing moistening of the snowpack in particular at low and intermediate altitudes.
