Highlights

It will still be possible to trigger avalanches in fresh wind‑deposited or new snow slabs. Avoid lee areas where the wind has deposited snow. If the snow cracks around you or you observe fresh avalanches, these are clear signs that the new snow has bonded into slabs and that avalanches can be triggered.

When the sun warms the snow and temperatures rise throughout the day, some avalanches may release naturally.

Cornices that have formed in recent days are still weak and can break easily. Keep a safe distance from all cornices.

In low‑lying areas where the precipitation fell as rain, there is little or no avalanche danger.

Avalanche problems

  • New snow

    • Above 800 m

Tendency

Rain and mild temperatures will continue to cause a risk of some naturally occurring wet avalanches. These avalanches are not expected to become very large, but be cautious in steep terrain with soft, wet snow, especially in or above terrain traps.

Cornices that have formed over the past few days remain weak and can break easily. Keep a good distance from all cornices.

In low-lying areas where the precipitation has fallen as rain, there is little or no avalanche danger.
