Avalanche Activity

New snow and wind slabs require caution.

As a consequence of new snow and southwesterly wind, wind slabs will form from early morning in particular adjacent to ridgelines as well as at elevated altitudes. The wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant. Small and medium-sized natural avalanches are possible.

Snowpack Structure

Over a wide area new snow and wind slabs are lying on a hard crust. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack. This applies in particular on shady slopes above approximately 2400 m.

Tendency

Above approximately 2000 m snow will fall on Friday over a wide area. Gradual increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of new snow and wind.
