Avalanche Activity

The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs represent the main danger. Backcountry touring calls for experience in the assessment of avalanche danger and careful route selection.

The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls above the tree line. Large and, in isolated cases, very large natural avalanches are possible. The fresh snow as well as the often deep wind slabs can be released easily, even by a single winter sport participant, in all aspects.

Snowpack Structure

The new snow and wind slabs are lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack. Weak layers exist in the snowpack.

Tendency

The weather will be clear.
