LOW avalanche danger exists at all elevations.  Variable and challenging surface conditions on all aspects and at all elevations remain our greatest hazard.  Identify features of concern, be prepared for hard and slick surfaces, and be on the lookout for isolated areas of unstable snow.

A brief low-pressure system will impact the forecast area today bringing cooler temperatures, increasing winds, and mostly cloudy skies.  These factors will work together to limit the potential for loose wet instabilities today. Nevertheless, unseasonably warm temperatures over the last 24 hours, intense solar radiation during the day yesterday, and overnight cloud cover led to a weak refreeze last night. Surface snow may soften quickly if the sun comes out and the winds are less than forecasted.

Variable and challenging surface conditions are more likely to be front of mind today. Be prepared for a wide variety of surface conditions if you decide to head into the backcountry.  Punchy wet snow and surface crusts of all types are likely, from breakable temperature crusts to firm and slick wind board. It may still be possible to find cold recrystallized snow in shaded and protected areas; however, the challenge may be finding areas that were spared by our recent warm-up.
