Avalanche Activity

The avalanche prone locations are rather rare and are easy to recognise.

The new snow of the last few days has settled to a large extent in all aspects. The new snow and wind slabs can be released in isolated cases, but mostly only by large additional loads, on shady slopes above approximately 2500 m. Adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls the danger of dry avalanches is a little higher. In addition a danger of moist loose snow avalanches exists. Below approximately 2500 m small wet snow slides and avalanches are possible. Below approximately 2400 m from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying.

Snowpack Structure

In particular on steep sunny slopes below approximately 3000 m only a little snow is lying. Faceted weak layers exist in the old snowpack in particular on shady slopes.
