Heavy snowfall, extreme winds, and warm temperatures will cause a widespread avalanche cycle on Monday.
Highway 1 through Rogers Pass will be closed early Monday Morning.

A widespread natural avalanche cycle is expected in on Monday.
Over the past week, there has been numerous large natural & artificially triggered avalanches running on storm snow interfaces. These ranged in size from 1.0 to 3.5 and some were running to valley bottom.
50cm of snow over the weekend. At lower elevations, this new snow sits on a thin temperature crust up to 1700m.
We've had a LOT of snow in the past week! About 170cm of snow has fallen with periods of strong to extreme southwesterly wind.
Areas sheltered from the wind at treeline and below have a layer of surface hoar buried around 120cm deep.
Expect extreme wind on Monday with mild temperatures. Moderate - heavy precipitation throughout the forecast period.
