Avalanche Summary

You could trigger an avalanche within the new snow on all steep slopes. Westerly winds will drift snow onto easterly-facing terrain at upper elevations; these slopes can produce the largest avalanches. At lower elevations, avalanches can be triggered within the recent snow that can bury you if it pushes you into a depression, lake, or tree well. You can find safer travel options by seeking wind-sheltered slopes less than about 30 degrees with no steep terrain above.
