Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche on steep slopes above treeline where you find either new snow or wind-drifted snow forming a cohesive slab. Be on the lookout for areas of freshly drifted snow below ridges and on convex rollovers. The most dangerous slopes face north through east. If you see cracking or collapsing as you travel over the new snow, avoid slopes steeper than about 35 degrees.
