Avalanche Summary

Don't underestimate a MODERATE (2 of 5) avalanche danger. Although you can find many safe slopes, if you travel on the wrong steep slope, you can trigger a deadly avalanche. These more dangerous slopes face northwest through northeast to east and are located at upper elevations. Large open slopes that received a lot of recent wind-drifted snow are places to avoid.

You can find safer avalanche conditions on sheltered southerly slopes and low-elevation slopes with a soft snowpack.
