An Avalanche Watch is in effect for the Park Range. The area is expected to reach very dangerous avalanche conditions by Wednesday evening.
The avalanche danger will rise quickly on Wednesday. Warm temperatures, intense snow, and wind mean you can easily trigger avalanches in the storm snow at all elevations. Slopes where the storm snow is drifted into thicker slabs will be the most dangerous. Look for and avoid steep, drifted slopes that face northwest through east to south. Cracking in the storm snow and audible collapses are indications to avoid steep slopes. Look for slopes less than about 35 degrees without steep slopes above as a safer option.
