The General Avalanche Hazard is LOW at all elevations this morning as below freezing overnight temperatures have hardened the snow surface. The hazard raises to MODERATE this afternoon as sunlight and rapidly warming temperatures weaken the snow surface and wet slides become possible in the recently recieved snow at higher elevations and deeper into the snowpack at lower elevations where warmer temperatures have been eroding the snow's strength.

A weak system should bring an inch or two of snow to the higher elevations tonight. Another stronger system is expected to bring significant snow to the higher elevations Saturday afternoon and night and light accumulations to the valleys. Saturdays highs should reach into the upper twenties at 9000'. AVALANCHE HAZARD FORECAST FOR THE TETON, TOGWOTEE PASS, AND SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREAS:The General Avalanche Hazard tomorrow is expected to be LOW at all elevations in the morning and could increase to MODERATE in the afternoon as increasing temperatures weaken the low elevation snowpack and new snow and wind form sensitive small surface slabs on hard crusts at mid and high elevations.
