Avalanche Summary

Avalanche conditions are improving, but you'll still want to dig down and evaluate the snow before committing to steep slopes. Look for a layer of weaker, softer snow about 1 to 2 feet deep. If you find this layer and a cohesive slab of snow above, more common in drifted areas, change your travel plans to slopes where the layer doesn't exist or the slab is softer and less cohesive.
