Avalanche Summary

You can easily trigger a loose avalanche on very steep slopes with wet, cohesionless snow. If your feet, skis, or machine sink deep into the snowpack and the snow feels moist or wet, you should avoid traveling on slopes steeper than about 40 degrees above terrain traps such as a creek or a cliff. Most of these loose avalanches will be small but combined with a terrain trap they can still be dangerous.
