Snowpack Structure

Sunny slopes: The surface of the snowpack will freeze to form a strong crust and will soften during the day. Shady slopes: The upper section of the snowpack is hard and its surface has a crust. Towards its base, the snowpack is dry. At intermediate altitudes there are 40 to 80 cm of snow, and even more in some localities. Above the tree line snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.

Tendency

Thursday: The danger of gliding avalanches will persist.

Avalanche Activity

Gliding avalanches are possible in isolated cases as before.

On very steep grassy slopes individual gliding avalanches are possible as the day progresses, even medium-sized ones. Caution is to be exercised in areas with glide cracks. Steep slopes: There is a danger of falling on the icy crust.
