Avalanche Activity

New snow and wind slabs.

On very steep slopes and on steep grassy slopes dry avalanches are possible, even medium-sized ones.

Snowpack Structure

The sometimes strong wind has transported the new snow. The fresh wind slabs have formed in particular adjacent to ridgelines on west, southwest and south facing slopes. As a consequence of low temperatures the snowpack can settle hardly at all. The new snow of Friday is bonding only slowly with the old snowpack.
